1/2 The Price of a Rainbow
We ordered online and it was delivered by TOLL to Melbourne in 4 days!!! Impressive start Climbing Frames. It took my husband (a man who didn't own a screw gun until a little over a year ago) and myself (8 months pregnant), just about 24 hours to build this set, with our kids interrupting us pretty frequently. We spent half a day sorting and labeling all of the wood parts. We went through the list of wood parts, located them, making sure everything was there, and labeled using little square stickers that I had written the part Numbers on. At the bottom of each page in the instruction booklet it tells you which pieces of wood and hardware you'll be using in that phase. So, each time we were starting a new phase, we pulled the wood and hardware we would be working with and made abig effort to keep everything neat and tidy and our workspace clear. This made a HUGE difference! There were a few bits we got confused on but nothing that we couldn't work around using a little common sense. We wouldn't say the assembly was difficult, just time consuming. The instructions are great though! One exception only...when assembling the roof, the instructions have you do it in a nearly impossible way...when you get to that point, flip it over, makes it sooo much easier!!!!! .Anyway, we had researched several other sets at several different places to get all of the play activities, features, and we got on this Windsor from Climbing Frames Australia. This set is just as sturdy as a Rainbow and just as nice looking for 1/2 the money. We have no regrets in our decision to go this way with this playground.. A few things: For parents of young children, we boarded up the back opening where the monkey bars are. Our kids are too young for monkey bars and so we screwed in a piece of plywood to cover the opening and I painted it with blackboard paint. They really enjoy having a chalkboard in their "tree house". My 3 year old daughter and 17 month old son have had a GREAT time on this Play Structure and we have a great time watching them enjoy what we built for them. Their smiles make the whole experience more than worth it!
It's a great looking set for the money
We bought this from Climbing Frames AU and got it on Sale. My husband followed advice of previous reviews and sorted all the pieces first, established a work site and assembled items in the driveway before putting them in place. The slide is a fast one and looks great. It's a great looking set for the money. Even after we buy a few other items (baby swing) not included in the set, it'll still be less $$ than many other sets that are half as nice. We added a baby swing for our youngest kid which we purchased from, Climbing Frames too. It took my husband (all by himself with no help) one afternoon to sort wood and set up shop, three and a half days to assemble the structure. He's very handy but not a prof carpenter and this thing looks great. Neighbors have said so too. Seems like we got lucky with buying the Windsor? We're happy.
Windsor - Recommend it to anyone
Great product. However, would be nice if the parts came labeled!!! This process took about 2 hours. Also, I would not recommend building the roof as per the instructions-too heavy and too difficult. I actually assembled the A-frame to the play area, then used a helper and attached the roof, starting at the center(to prevent any major gap in the roof) and working downward. I then fastened the center support for the roof as a helper held it up from inside the fort. This made it lighter and easier to work with. Also, I would NOT build out the A-frame(swing set attachement) until after the last step. This will allow you to make sure all is level and prevent any unnecessary sdjustments. I would highly recommend these two procedures. This was the only process where I required a helper. The unit is sturdy and the kids love it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. But have patience or you will get frustrated.
