Building Your Outdoor Swing Set

December 28th, 2011

Building an outdoor swing set should be a once in a lifetime job. Not many have ever built a swing set before and we don’t expect you to have to build it again. That’s why we thought it would be a good idea to offer some top tips for getting it built quickly and successfully.

We recommend you identify all the parts of your outdoor swing set pre-build. Lay them all out and check them against what you should have. The length is the easiest way to identify the parts.

The number of holes on each piece is a great way to identify them.

Sort all hardware – bolts, screws and other bits and bobs into separate piles.

Try to find the flattest part of your yard to build and erect your outdoor swing set on.

Man power is all well and good but a cordless drill will be a life saver.

Try to rope a friend in to help with the build, you will appreciate the spare pair of hands.

Keep the bolts slightly loose and tighten them once the build is done.

Looking after your swing set and applying a wood sealant once a year will ensure it has a long life and can be enjoyed for years to come.

Most importantly of all make sure you get the kids out there as much as possible making the most of their new swing set and your hard work.
